Creative Services Director

Roger Vertrees is a 35 year veteran of the broadcast television industry and currently the Creative Services Director at KDAF-TV, Tribune Broadcasting’s CW affiliate in Dallas/Fort Worth. Mr. Vertrees has been in this position since 1998 and is responsible for the promotion and marketing of the station’s news, image and entertainment programming.

Mr. Vertrees began his broadcast promotion career at KTRV in Boise Idaho, then moved to KPTV in Portland, Oregon before relocating to KDAF in Dallas. Once there he was named Promotion Manager and then Creative Services Director. In this role, Mr. Vertrees has also overseen the Community Affairs and Video Services departments of KDAF.

In 2014 and 2015, he also managed the Creative Department at KIAH-TV, Tribune’s CW affiliate in Houston, Texas. Throughout his three decades in Texas, he has participated in the rollout of three television networks (Fox, The WB and The CW) and the launch of various newscasts.

Mr. Vertrees is a founding member of the Texas Lone Star EMMY Chapter, one of the largest of its kind, and currently serves as the Chapter’s First Vice President and one of its Trustees. He is a member of the Promax/BDA organization, previously sat on the Student Advisory Board for The Art Institute of Dallas, and supports various AIDS-related charities in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

A native of Idaho, Mr. Vertrees studied film and communications at Brigham Young University and has been recognized locally and nationally with awards for creative excellence in the broadcast marketing and advertising field
