The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Nominations
NATIONAL ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS & SCIENCES (NATAS) AND CBS ANNOUNCE 2023 DAYTIME EMMY® NOMINATIONS
“The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards” To Be Broadcast Friday, June 16 On CBS
NEW YORK/LOS ANGELES (APRIL 26, 2023) – The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced the nominees for the 50th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards. The Daytime Emmy® Awards telecast will be presented live at 9 PM EDT (replay at 9 PM PDT) on Friday, June 16 on the CBS Television Network and streamed on Paramount+. The Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle Emmy® Awards will be presented on Saturday, June 17 and streamed on the NATAS OTT channel at Watch.TheEmmys.TV. The ceremonies will take place at the Westin Bonaventure Los Angeles.
“Today we not only honor this year’s outstanding programs and individuals, we mark a milestone in television history. Our golden anniversary celebrates the talented creators who have made the last 50 years of Daytime Television so unforgettable,” said Adam Sharp, President & CEO, NATAS. “Partnering with CBS for another two years, we look forward to a very special 50th Daytime Emmy® Awards this June.”
“In addition to this year’s many esteemed nominees, it is especially gratifying to also be celebrating so many milestones of Daytime television in our 50th anniversary year,” said Brent Stanton, Head of Daytime, NATAS. “Not only are we celebrating 50 years of Daytime Emmy® Award programming, we are also celebrating the milestones of some of its longest-running shows such as General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, Dr. Phil and Rachael Ray.”
Full ticket information, breakdown of categories for each show and nominee credits will be released next Wednesday, May 3, 2023.
The June 16th telecast will mark the 17th time CBS has broadcast the Daytime Emmys®, more than any other network. The Daytime Creative Arts and Lifestyle Emmy® ceremony will stream live at 9 PM ET/6 PM PT on Saturday, June 17 at Watch.TheEmmys.TV and via The Emmys® apps for iOS, tvOS, Android, FireTV, and Roku (full list at apps.theemmys.tv).
The Daytime Emmy® Awards have recognized outstanding achievement in television programming and crafts since 1974, honoring work in a variety of categories, including daytime dramas, talk shows, instructional programming, hosting, and legal/courtroom programs. In 2021, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) and the Television Academy jointly announced plans to realign the Daytime and Primetime Emmy® Awards to be organized by content genre, as opposed to program airtime. In addition, in recognition of the marked increase in content and entries for children’s programming, 2022 marked the first annual Children’s & Family Emmy® Awards, with relevant categories separating from the Daytime Emmys® into their own competition and ceremony.
All awards are judged by a pool of more than 1,000 peer professionals from across the television industry, whose confidential ballots were then tabulated by the independent accounting firm of Lutz & Carr, LLP.
The 50TH ANNUAL DAYTIME EMMY® AWARDS is produced by NATAS and Associated Television International (ATI), which produced Daytime Emmy® Award ceremonies on The CW in 2009 and on CBS in 2010, 2011, 2020, 2021 and 2022. Adam Sharp and Lisa Armstrong are executive producers from NATAS, while David McKenzie is executive producer from ATI.
