DAVID BURT
Station Manager, Boston City TV and Boston Kids & Family TV

David Burt is Station Manager for Boston City TV and Boston Kids and Family TV in Boston, Massachusetts. He began his television career as an intern at WPXT in Portland, Maine. Upon graduating from the University of Southern Maine, WPXT hired Burt full-time, where he worked for over ten years in engineering, master control and the production and promotions departments. He helped create Maine’s firstFox Television Network affiliate, FOX51.

In 1991, Burt was appointed Station Promotion Director, where he directed all on-air promotions, station image, outside media planning/buying and managed all activities of the 50,000 member FOX51 Kids Club. The following year, Burt was responsible for the promotional launch of Maine’s first 10PM newscast, The FOX51 Ten O’Clock News. Burt made the move to Boston in 1994 where he worked for a short time as Marketing Director for Talamas, Inc., until he was hired by the City of Boston in 1995 as a Videographer/Editor and later became Station Manager of municipal television services.

Burt works very closely with Mayor Michelle Wu and city departments to educate and inform Boston residents, through programming and public service campaigns, about city services and public health and education related issues. He is Executive Producer of mayoral press conferences, public and community meetings and special event coverage, including the Mayor’s Annual State of the City Address. Burt produced and directed award winning and Emmy® nominated programs, including About Health with Jeanne Blake, Commissioners Corner, Mayor’s Game of the Week, Read TV and Seniors Count.

Serving more than 25 years with the Boston/New England Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), Burt has served as Chapter President and National Trustee, Chair of the Chapter’s Education Committee, National Student Television Coordinator, 2nd Vice President and Awards Chairman. In 2024, Burt was inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Silver Circle Honor Society for his significant contributions to the television industry. At the National level of NATAS, Burt has served as National Trustee, Chapter Representative to the National Awards Committee, Chairman’s Representative to the Executive Committee. In 2018, Burt was elected Second Vice Chairman of NATAS and in 2023 he was elected First Vice Chairman of NATAS, where helps manage the coveted Emmy® Awards for Daytime, Sports, News & Documentary, Technology & Engineering and the all-new Children’s & Family Emmy® Awards. In December 2025, Burt was re-elected First-Vice Chairman of NATAS.

Burt, along with the entire Executive Committee, works closely with The Television Academy, Regional NATAS Chapters and NATAS management to create a forward thinking academy focused on working peacefully together with the ultimate goal of honoring excellence in television and media throughout the United States and abroad.
Burt prides himself on being a mentor to high school and college students pursuing a career in media through hosting internships, helping create scholarship opportunities on the local and national levels as well as assisting with the NATAS Student Production Awards.


Burt resides in Boston with his partner Joe and their dogs Bella and Lucy.
