October 9, 2024 – Tonight the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) presented the inaugural “Excellence in Production Technology” Emmy® Award to The Santa Clauses Season Two. The award was presented as part of the 75th Technology & Engineering Emmy® Awards at the Prince George Ballroom in New York, hosted by David Pogue, Emmy award-winning correspondent, CBS Sunday Morning. William Wang, VIZIO Founder & CEO, received Lifetime Achievement Honors for his contributions to the television manufacturing industry by bringing premium-quality, innovative TVs, and soundbars into millions of American homes at affordable prices.

VIZIO’S WILLIAM WANG NAMED 2024 TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT HONOREE

The 76th Technology & Engineering Emmy® Awards
SCOPE
An award to a living individual, a company, or a scientific or technical organization for developments and/or standardization involved in engineering technologies that either represent so extensive an improvement on existing methods or are so innovative in nature that they materially have affected television.
VOTING PROCEDURES
A Panel of highly qualified engineers working in television considers technical development, and determines which, if any, merit an award.
COMMITTEE PROCEDURES:
A) All award balloting is by secret ballot.
B) An affirmative vote by two-thirds of the voting members present is required for an award.
C) Technology nominations must be approved by half of the voting members present at the second meeting to be considered for further investigation as to award worthiness at the third and any subsequent meetings.
D) An affirmative vote by two-thirds of the voting members present is required to deny further consideration for an award once that technology or individual nomination has been approved for investigation at the second meeting.
E) If the Committee approves one or more awards, they will be for Academy Emmy® Statuettes. There will be no “Citation” award given.
F) To be eligible to vote on the final award ballots the representative of a company or organization must have been present at all previous meetings (except for the first, organizational meeting). A designated qualified alternate may be assigned if prior notice is given.
G) Companies having common ownership (a parent-subsidiary relationship for example) shall be considered for voting purposes as a single organization. Each company may have a representative at committee meetings, but one representative will be designated to cast the single vote of the larger organization.
H) Any member(s) whose company is under consideration for an award will be excluded from balloting for award recognition for that particular technology. This exclusion would be only for the ballot(s) pertaining to that technology.
I) All technology nominations must be limited to technologies. Any individual, or organization or product could not be discussed until the third meeting as part of a discussion to an already approved technology.
J) The Committee may establish other procedures as necessary to conduct its meetings and other business. Points not covered by Committee procedures will be governed by Robert’s Rules of Order, Revised Edition.
K) Technology and Engineering committee members are expected to act as sub-chairs of the technology investigation subcommittees at least 2 out of 3 years to maintain their membership on the committee.

Statue Ordering
A recipient Engineering/Technology company or organization (not an individual) is allowed to purchase up to three additional commemorative statues for display purposes at other corporate sites. In addition, a recipient Engineering/Technology company or organization may purchase up to five commemorative statues for key individual innovators. A separate form must be completed for each statue requested and must be approved by the Chairman of the Engineering Achievement Committee prior to processing by NATAS.

Beginning May 2015, Tech Emmy Award recipient companies or organizations could purchase up to 5 commemorative statues for individual innovators. In 2019 the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences decided to extend the Innovator statues to awarded technologies prior to 2015.
Innovator statues are intended to go directly to technical team members who directly worked on the awarded technology. All individuals requested will be vetted to ensure they qualify. Submission of a name is not a guarantee of a statue award. The more information you provide about the individuals, the faster the vetting process will proceed. If the company that was awarded has since been acquired by a new entity, the successor company must make the request for the Innovator Statues.
No matter how many people worked on a technology, the Innovator Statue program is limited to FIVE statues per company, per technology.
To request statues for Tech Emmy Award recipients prior to 2015, an authorized COMPANY representative from the winning technology MUST fill out this form to provide the information necessary for the additional individual statue requests. If the winning company has since been acquired, the company owning the technology today must submit.
